US Enterprises appreciate the Vietnamese market.
At Vietnam – US Business Summit 2022 in Ha Noi, many US expertises and businesses affirmed that it attached special importance to the Vietnamese market.
Ms. Marisa Lago, Under Secretary of USA Commerce for International Trade said that in 2021, both countries had achieved positive results of economic recovery and growth. The US had made up Vietnam’s second largest trading partner and largest exporting market, while Vietnam had risen to become the ninth largest trading partner of the US.
According to Ms. Marisa Lago, there are more than 100 US experts who are ready to assist enterprises of both countries to invest, promote two-way trade.
“We are planning to pick up Enterprise Groups in the medical field in Vietnam. We are also ready to introduce top of the US Groups in the energy field”, Ms. Marisa Lago said more.
Up to now, the US has had nearly 1150 projects in operation with a total of investment registration capitals more than 10,3 billions USD, ranked 11th over 141 invested economies into Vietnam.
In 2021, despite the pandemic’s negative impact, many of the US top Groups, such as Apple, Amazon, Google, Intel… still announced investment capital into Vietnam. Therein, Intel Group put a supplement investment capital up to 475 millions USD.
Vietnam welcomed First Solar – one of the three largest energy Groups of the US with the project of producing solar energy pins by thin film technology, the total investment capital was over 1 billions USD.
Besides, the Hayward Quartz Technology INC Company in Silicon Valley invested 110 millions USD into the high-tech zone at Danang.
The survey result of business investment in 2021 of the American Chamber of Commerce Vietnam (AmCham) said that nearly 80% of AmCham’s members have appreciated very positively or positively about medium-term and long-term goals in the Vietnamese market.
“Trending in Trade and Investment growth between both countries will continue to maintain and promote strongly in the next period. Vietnamese Government constantly improve trading environment, put off investor’s difficulties that are primary purpose of the US enterprises bringing capital into Vietnam”, Mr. Adam Sitkoff, Managing Director of AmCham said.
At the meeting held in the afternoon March 8th, 2022 between the Ministry of Industry and Trade Leader and some Groups, enterprises of the US are investing to trade in Vietnam, Representative of Ford LLC, Vietnam said that this business had expected to increase wattage and hire more employees this year. This enterprise also was applying for permitting to open an electronic trading platform in order to assist maximum of customers.
INVESTMENT OF ENERGY, GREEN PROJECT
Toward the future, business communities of both countries recognize that Vietnam – US trade and investment relationship still has a fiscal space to develop. Regarding the USA, Vietnam is considered to be an important link in the global supply chain and this role is expected to continue to promote moving forward.
At Vietnam – US Business Summit 2022, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that in the new FDI attraction strategy, Vietnam took higher priority over attracting high-tech projects, digital transformation, especially in the clean energy investment projects.
“Vietnam would like to build a digital transformation ecosystem which is substantive, effective and it focuses on fields, careers which Vietnam has conditions to develop as well as the US’s strength. Building Vietnam into a logistics center; improve the capability of the health system…”, the Prime Minister said.
Affirming that Vietnam is an important market, a representative of ExxonMobil Group in Asia – Pacific said that this business was deploying some of the Electronic - Gas Projects in Vietnam. ExxonMobil was also developing and applying advanced technologies and solutions in order to assist in clear energy transition in Vietnam.
Before that, the Vietnam – US Trading Forum, US Ambassador to Vietnam, Ms. Marie Domour said that Vietnam – USA Businesses were maintaining strong growth momentum in various fields of investment cooperation, such as health, energy, education…
“Vietnam has committed to climate change response goals ambitiously at COP26 Conference and USA has committed to assist Vietnam to achieve these goals. In spite of uneasy goals, these challenges are the opportunity for enterprises of both countries to develop closely, with feasible projects to invest in renewable energy”, Ms. Marie Domour said.
